At noon on Friday 29 September Sunderland's second round UK City of Culture bid document will be submitted to the Department for Culture Media and Sport, outlining why the city should be awarded the prestigious title.
University of Sunderland staff are invited to be part of a big Sunderland 2021 group photo, being taken at 4pm on Friday 22 September at the base of Penshaw Monument (so no need to worry about climbing it).
The photo taken will be used in the bid and in the press on submission day so it would be great to get as many people involved as possible, if you can attend please wear bright colours if possible - it shouldn't take more than an hour of your time.
If you can attend and be part of the photo please email firstname.lastname@example.org, so he can get a general idea of numbers. Note, if the weather is bad on this day, it will be re-scheduled to 4pm on Monday 25 September, so please hold this time in your diary as well just in case the re-schedule occurs.
Back in April when the first round bid was submitted Sunderland 2021 had an astonishing amount of support online. The hashtag #Sunderland2021 was trending fourth in the UK and had over 2.5 million impressions. We want to do that again!
Please join in wishing Sunderland's second round bid the very best of luck and simultaneously post on social media at noon on Friday 29 September the following message:
Ha'way #Sunderland2021 #UKCityofCulture2021 @DCMS
