titleWhat is the HEAR?

The Higher Education Achievement Record is designed to give undergraduate students a record of your academic and other achievements whilst studying at the University.  Graduates will no longer receive a copy of their academic transcript. All students now receive access to an electronic copy of their transcript in the form of their HEAR. For more information, please visit the HEAR website.

titleI have not received my activation link / I cannot find it / it has expired. Please can you send me a new one?

Please look in your university email inbox as well as junk/spam folder for the latest email from Gradintelligence and note that depending on your email service configuration, there may also be a delay in receiving an activation email.

Alternatively, you can easily activate your account by using our online account support process. Please follow the steps below:

Go

1. Go to: https://gradintel.com/index.php/account-support/recover/students¿

2. Select your Institution from a dropdown, enter your Student ID number and Date of Birth, use Captcha to authenticate and click “SUBMIT” please note your student ID might have a different format to what you are used to (e.g. only contain numbers, or actually be a combination of letters and numbers rather than a number – this is institution specific, so it is best to check your Student ID / Library card or contact your local support team to confirm)

3. Choose a verification method - email address should be the only available option (it will include a hint for what email address it is – if it is an institution email and you are struggling, please try alternative email combinations, because at some institutions there could be alias addresses in use, which are linked to the same mailbox – e.g. StudentID@institution.ac.ukName.surname@institution.ac.uk or Firstinitial.surname@institution.ac.uk – please contact your local support team to confirm if necessary)

4. Enter the e-mail address based on hint displayed on the page described above.

5. You will receive an automated message with a verification code.

6. Check your email for the verification code message, copy and paste the code into appropriate text field on the verification page¿

7. Once verified, you will be redirected to the account activation page

8. There, you will be asked to reconfirm your Date of Birth, define your new account username, password and specify your security question and security answer so that you can then use these to reset your password, should you ever forget it.

Note: If you no longer have access to the account linked email address indicated by the hint, please contact hear@sunderland.ac.uk and ask them to change your email address and to send you a new activation link to your personal email.

Alternatively, in case of any issues, please use the “Contact us” form option or write directly to customerservices@gradintel.com   providing your full name, date of birth, student email address and student ID number, describing your issue so that we can help you.

titleWhat is the difference between the HEAR and a CV

The HEAR will not replace the need for a CV of job application.  It can, however, complement them by bringing together academic achievements and achievements outside the curriculum in once place. You can then use it to help build your job applications, or demonstrate verification of all your achievements to an employer.

Think about the opportunities that are available to you outside the curriculum and think about how you can engage with those activities. You can discuss your profile of skills and activities with your personal tutors, and with the University Careers and Employability Service, and think about what will appear on your HEAR, and what additional activity you do that might not be featured in your HEAR but that you will still wish to discuss with employers.

titleI shared my Verified Document with a third party (e.g. employer, university or government agency) and they came back saying they have trouble accessing my document.

In this unlikely event, could you please send your intended recipient the following access instructions:

Per guidance from the Gradintelligence team, the most likely reason why you cannot access my Verified Document is because you might be trying to use an expired access code.

It will be best to repeat the procedure for accessing the Verified Document from the beginning, to ensure you get the latest access code:

 You

1. You received an email with the subject line: “Data Access Token” from documentservices@gradintel.com.

2. Click the Access Token link within “Data Access Token” email

3. The Access Token link directs you to the landing webpage named “View Secured Documents”.

4. On the “View Secured Documents” page, click “Continue” to have an Access Code emailed back to the original e-mail address where you received the initial “Data Access Token” email.

5. An email with the subject line “Gradintelligence Document Access code -  [candidate name] (Reference:XXXXXX)” is sent to your email address. You might need to wait for that email to arrive for a bit, depending on the particular configuration of your email service. Also note it could possibly get sent to your junk/spam folder, so please check those too.

6. Copy the bold numbers from the “Gradintelligence Document Access code -  [candidate name] (Reference:XXXXXX)” email once you receive it.

7. Return back to the “View Secured Documents” web page and enter that Access Code into appropriate blank text field – make sure the reference code on the web portal matches the reference code in the subject line of the document access code email from which you just copied the access code.

8. After the Access Code is entered, you are taken to the next page of “View Secured Documents” web, with a link to the actual PDF file of the candidate’s Verified Document.

9. Click the “View” button to securely access the candidate’s Verified Document.

In case of any issues, please contact Gradintelligence support team at customerservices@gradintel.com   with details of at which step the above process did not work, and they will be very happy to help you.
