The University of Sunderland’s Graduate Internship Scheme offers an excellent way to begin your graduate-level a great way for you to launch your chosen career. All of our internships Graduate Internships are paid a minimum annual salary of £17,000 per annum and are within commuting distance of Sunderland. We aim to offer a range of opportunities to accommodate as many subject areas as possible.

Why an internship?

As an intern, you will be working for a local organisation on a full-time basis and earn a competive wage,

You will be working on projects under the guidance of a supervisor from the host company, as well as the University’s dedicated Internships Team.

Internships are arranged initially on a six to twelve month basis. This gives you enough time to understand the connection between academic study and how that can be applied to the world of work.

Many of our interns are later offered permanent positions with their host companies. An internship is also a fantastic way to start building a network of professional contacts in your chosen career.

httpopportunities are available across a range of different sectors and industries. The vast majority of internships are with companies who are local to Sunderland, and all are located in the North East region. 

The scheme offers a 12 month internship, whereby you are able to showcase your graduate level skills and competencies, whilst gaining practical experience with a local employer. Around 9 out of 10 of our Graduate Internships become permanent following the 12 month internship period.

Short term internships are often available at different times within the academic year, and are great ways to gain practical experience. Students are usually provided with bursaries during their time with the employer.

The Employment Agency is the University’s in-house recruitment hub for employers, and offers a great way for student to gain ad-hoc, paid experience.
